Artist Statement
Like many of us, my journey has lots of stopping off points including, but not limited to a background of Waldorf education, earning a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Sonoma State University and spending the past 20 years in the private sector as a Human Resources professional earning a living.
Now that I have--at least for the moment--set aside the daily demands of a corporate life, I am led to my passion for art through painting and photography. There is a sense of freedom I enjoy when painting on canvas or paper using bright colors to create contemporary landscapes and abstract images in water media (watercolor and liquid acrylic). Likewise, photography allows me to play with light that can cast the most interesting shadow on a petal of the smallest flower. For me, the photographic process is more immediate while painting tends to be a more reflective process.
I constantly challenge myself to stay open to the possibilities that nurture my creative spirit. My hope is that these images suggest a mood, a moment in time or a familiar place encouraging the viewer to consider their own creative potential.
